The handguard is an essential piece to any AR-15 custom build. Some of the most popular types of handguards are the freefloat handguards. These types of handguards cover the barrel of the gun and attach to the upper receiver by a barrel nut. Handguards on an AR-15 build perform many crucial functions. One of these functions is that of protecting the shooter's hand from the heat of the barrel. The handguard also provides something to hold on to which gives increased stability to the shooter. Each handguard comes with attachment points for sights/optics while still saving space for additional accessories to be attached which can add to the aesthetic appeal of the build.

It is recommended that handguards cover completely the gas system of the AR-15 so when shopping for a handguard please keep in mind your gas system length. About This Handguard: The DreadNought from Mercury Precision is an AR-15 Freefloat Handguard 15" long and machined with an M-Lok accessory mounting system.
Material Of Handguard: The Mercury Precision DreadNought AR-15 freefloat handguard is precision CNC machined from a high-quality 6061-T6 aircraft grade aluminum extrusion. This ensures that the handguard will be both extremely light and very strong.
Profile: The DreadNought freefloat handguard is made with a slim profile. This is a great design for shooters with smaller hands and creates a unique look for the entire AR-15 build.
Barrel Nut: The DreadNought Handguard has a steel barrel nut made of high-quality steel as well as the necessary mounting hardware.
Type Of Rail: This Handguard is CNC machined with an M-Lok cutout across the top handguard with Picatinny rails machined at both ends.
Finish: To maintain corrosion resistance the Mercury Precision handguard is treated with a Type 3 hardcoat anodizing.
