Shop By 5.56 NATO
The 5.56 NATO and the .223 Wylde at first glance may look identical and many rifles may be capable of shooting both of these calibers, but there are subtle differences that are important to note. The most important difference between the two rounds is pressure, the .223 Wylde is going to generate less pressure than the 5.56 NATO. Another difference between the two calibers is that the .223 Wylde is measured from the center of the casing, whereas the 5.56 NATO is measured from the throat of the casing. Make sure you check which caliber your rifle is chambered in, a 5.56 NATO will be able to shoot a .223 Wylde round. If it is chambered in .223 Rem it usually will not be able to shoot a 5.56 NATO round, due to the rifle not being made to withstand the pressures that a 5.56 NATO generates. There are exceptions to this though, if your rifle is chambered in .223 Wylde these have a modified chamber to allow you to be able to shoot both the 5.56 NATO and .223 Wylde.
