Pin & Weld Ready: Pin & Weld Ready - By permanently “pinning and welding†these muzzle devices to the rifle's barrel, the barrel length will exceed the NFA's 16 inch requirement. For example if you own an AR with a 14.5 inch barrel. It is classified as a pistol. Even with a 1.5 inch muzzle device, it is still a pistol since the muzzle device is not a permanent piece of the weapon. Purchasing a pin and weld ready device you have the option to permanently weld on the device making your weapon a rifle.
